WHY WON'T THIS THING OPEN

Ethan's gotten in the habit of opening drawers. Sometimes, though, he doesn't realize he's working agaist himself. He could not, for the life of him, figure out why this drawer wouldn't open with his other hand on it.

SPIDERMAN

So no, Ethan can't walk on his own yet, but he can Spiderman, hanging from one piece of furniture to the other. Here, he's moving from the sofa to a table and along the table.

UP CLOSE

Ethan likes a close up every now and then. Mommy got a good shot of his baby blues.

ETHAN WITH KITTY

Ethan likes playing with the cat, and she's getting more used to him. She'll play with the little human and tolerate him grabbing her hair.

LONG WEEK

JR was told last Wednesday he was going to the field Saturday. He was gone until Friday. During that time, Ethan broke through his top two front teeth and got conjuctivitis and Tara got about 12 hours of sleep (total). It was a long week, but mom and baby are both recovering now over the long weekend.

FINAL SHOTS AT GYEONGJU

Here are some parting shots of Gyeongju. The hills are actually burial monuments to great leaders of the time and their families. They had one open, where Tara and So Young posed in front of. The last picture is of our Korean family sponsors. The first picture has part of the family, JR and Ethan and one students.

SEEING GYEONGJU

Here, you see a few Korean features. One is a traditioal style house, with the intricate roofing. Then, you see the traditional Korean war bell. The third is a structure which is actually featured on a 10 WON coin. Then, two of our Korean students and our other American sponsor, SFC Beddinghouse (George) pose with a statue.

NEW FRIENDS

Ethan got some new friends in the friendship circle, too. They loved his chubby cheeks! He liked them so much, he didn't want to nap, which made for a long day.

LUNCH WITH THE FRIENDSHIP CIRCLE

JR and Tara are participating in a Korean-American Friendship Circle, where one Korean sponsor, one American sponsor (family/friends), and six Korean students from a local university participate in activities together. Here, the Korean sponsor took everyone to Gyeongju, a historical region, where they sat us down and let us partake in a traditional meal. In the last shot, JR is lectured by one of the students about how warning is necessary before taking pictures. He didn't listen.

SCOOTER

He's not Phil Rizzuto or even Lee Corso, but Ethan is a scooter. You can see here in the progression of pictures, he flings his arms and legs in and out while scooting his butt across the floor to get where he's going. At the Daegu American School homecoming football game he met a girl who could crawl and she moved a lot faster than him. He thought about trying the new approach when he got home, but he then reverted back to what he knows.

LOOKING FOR A SACK

Ethan and mommy and daddy went to the Daegu American School's homecoming football game this Saturday, and Ethan got dressed for the occasion. He didn't get in the game, but I'm pretty sure once he stops scooting and starts running, he'll be a lock. The DAS lost to Seoul American 16-14.

ETHAN THE JUICY BOY

So Ethan recently discovered he likes juice. He didn't like it so much when it came in a bottle, but he really likes it from his cup. The straw keeps everything in until he sucks. He likes to do it all by himself, too.

TIE-DYED

Ethan's cousins and Uncle Jack went to all the trouble to make him tie-dyed onesies. He seems to like them. And while they're a little roomy at 24-months, they aren't too big!
One hand. That's all Ethan really needs to remain standing now. He can get up on his own now, too. Next step: flying all over the apartment and driving mommy and daddy crazy!

CHUSOK LIGHT FESTIVAL

The Chusok holiday was this weekend here in Korea. Every year they put up a great big light festival down by the river. We went down to try to enjoy the festival Saturday night...and got rained on shortly after we got there. It's OK, we'll try again tonight.

RIDING THE HIPPO

Ethan's about old enough to start enjoying the use of his ride and push hippo mom got him. It gobbles up blocks as he goes. He really likes it.

LITTLE SLUGGER

Not that we're trying to push him, but yes, Ethan has a tee and a bat. The ball stays on (unless you actually pull it off) and he can hit the ball and it makes crowd noises or plays take me out to the ballgame. Everyone see that developing left-handed swing?

PLAYING ON THE BED

Imagine that, playing on the bed made the big boy tired. Yeah, it's a little yawn.
Ethan's working on crawling...kind of. He mostly sits up and scoots, but he leans forward like this, almost to the crawling position, quite often. He just never makes the "next step."

SPLISH, SPLASH

Ethan's still loving the bath tub. He'd stay in for hours at a time if we let him. Only a few reports of possible dunkage. No worries, he was OK!

BEATING ON DADDY

Ethan enjoys sitting on daddy's tummy and banging on it. He also likes sitting on daddy's shoulders and beating on his bald head!

INTERNET JUNKY

Ethan really enjoys surfing the web. Or maybe he just likes hearing the keys tap and touching the mouse. Either way, it can be fun or a little frustrating for his co-surfer.
